“You Are/No Longer,” a poem by Shannon Hearn

how much
does it hurt when you run
over a shadow
over your own
shadow. is it too heavy
too much sinking in-
to the ground i’m asking
where does it hurt and when
does it know you are making it
more heavy
on purpose
