We spend a lot of time in prison thinking about how we could have fallen for something so easily, so wholeheartedly. How could we have believed we were something we were not? We are not easily fooled. Someone really had taken their time. Someone had hatched an incredible plan. We concentrate so hard, we’re out of our heads for a bit. We’re in a zone, or zones, watching nothing at all but one another. Are we back? I ask. We’re back you say. And we are suddenly back in the desert, each holding the shoulders of the other, each watching the other, for hours on end, until one of us is watching the sunset, and one of us watching the stars rise.
