Seafaring Split, 2016 poetry chapbooks by Jessica Q. Stark and Kiley McLaughlin

There there, startled legs—
there are dinosaurs in the animal mind

looking / faking / breathing

I don’t need these things
but I will have them,           hard

the ticker tape on board with me,
the beveled gliss, the darlinged strings
that follow in spirit, in split ends and stave

o legs,
what have I done

the machinery pressed

to my bread belly and burst—

anonymity

I’m blank of essence but for the salt mud halo
hoop rigging balance

its crystal weight slips eager

drops alcohol,

shines
